About this event
The first part of the clinic will be a sit-down presentation on trail hazards, sharing multi-use trails, and best safety practices for successful trail encounters with other trail users. That will be followed by a riding portion, where riders can put into practice ideas from the discussion, as the trails at McDowell Mountain Park are utilized by bikers, hikers, runners, and other equestrians, making it a great "training ground" for exposure to shared, multi-use trails.
Attendance is free to club members, $10 for non-members.
Riders can choose to ride out solo, or pair off/form small groups. Experienced riders will be available for anyone who would be interested in riding with a mentor. Mileage will vary, but we will have several different trail routes available for a variety of distance options ranging from approximately 4-12 miles.
Bring a chair for yourself, and if you are bringing a horse, bring hay and a bucket for them -- there is water at the trailhead.
Start time is 9am; lecture portion will last approximately 2 hours, and then break for 30 minutes to tack up/eat lunch. Ride-out will start at approximately 11:30am.
