The practical riding portion of the "Endurance 201: Night Riding" segment of the McDowell Prep-palooza day.

LIMITED TO THE FIRST 9 SIGN-UPS. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

Attendees will be broken down into small groups and assigned a mentor who will then guide you through the riding portion of the clinic. Mileage is expected to be approximately 6-7 miles.

Riding attendees need to also be signed up for and attend the lecture portion held earlier in the afternoon. After the discussion, there will be a short break to grab something to eat and tack up horses.

Housekeeping Items:
- Bring a chair, and a light for in-camp.
- There is no power/water at the trailhead, so bring horse water with you.
- Riders should have a small flashlight to carry on their saddle, and a headlamp with a red light setting if you have one. Bring glowsticks if you have them, but we will also have some available for any riders who want to try them out.
- We will have people water, but bring your own food -- there will be time between the discussion portion and when we break to tack up to ride to also grab a quick bite to eat.
- There is NO CAMPING at this location. The park closes at 10pm, so everyone needs to be out by then. We are planning to wrap the ride portion up by 8pm to give everyone time to pack up before the park closes.
- The trail will be marked with glowsticks, as well as using the Ride With GPS app. The ride route on Ride With GPS will be sent out to all riding attendees ahead of time

Endurance riding assumes that a rider has the ability to safely walk, trot, and canter their horse while maintaining control. Unexpected situations can and do occur -- loose dogs, cactus, bikes, scary rocks, and invisible horse-eating gremlins are all regularly encountered out on the trail.

To make your mentorship experience more successful, please answer the registration questions so that we can match you with an appropriate mentor.
